The pantry is the heart of your kitchen organization. When it's organized well, meal planning, cooking, and grocery shopping all become easier. Let us walk you through one of our favorite pantry transformations.
The Before
Our client's pantry was overflowing with expired items, duplicate products, and no real system in place. Finding ingredients was a daily frustration, and grocery trips often resulted in buying items they already had buried in the back.
Our Process
- Empty Everything: We started by taking every single item out of the pantry. This lets us see the full scope and clean the shelves thoroughly.
- Sort & Purge: We checked expiration dates and sorted items into categories. Anything expired or no longer wanted was removed.
- Categorize: We created zones for different categories — baking supplies, snacks, canned goods, grains, spices, and breakfast items.
- Containerize: We transferred dry goods into clear, airtight containers for freshness and visibility. Each container was labeled beautifully.
- Install Solutions: We added tiered shelf risers, lazy susans for corners, and door-mounted racks for additional storage.
The After
The result? A pantry that's not only beautiful but incredibly functional. Everything is visible, accessible, and labeled. Our client can now see exactly what they have, plan meals effortlessly, and actually enjoy opening their pantry door.
Pantry Organization Tips
- Use the "first in, first out" method for perishables
- Keep frequently used items at eye level
- Use baskets for small items that tend to get lost
- Label everything — even if you think you'll remember
- Do a monthly pantry check to stay on top of things
